| Rationale and interpretation |
Large-scale catastrophic events characterize data on disaster losses. Reporting of emergencies allows for additional analysis to identify trends and patterns in which such catastrophic events can be prevented, thus contributing to sustainable development and enhancing economic resilience, social, health and environmental issues. Economic, environmental and social perspectives include poverty eradication, urban resilience and climate change adaptation. |
